The Department of Education recently sent email notifications to borrowers with defaulted loans. Aidvantage does not service defaulted loans, nor do we garnish wages. To view the current status of any of your Department of Education loans, log into studentaid.gov and view the my aid
section of your dashboard. You can also utilize the chat feature known as Aidan without logging in if you are unsure where to start.
The 1098-E tax form reports the amount of interest you paid on student loans in a calendar year. A 1098-E statement will be sent to anyone who pays at least $600, including interest paid to a prior servicer before transferring to Aidvantage, in student loan interest.
Please note that if your loans were previously serviced by Nelnet or CRI, interest paid to them prior to transferring to Aidvantage is not included in this amount.
If you didn't pay any servicer at least $600 in interest in a calendar year, the 1098-E form will not be sent to you. You may still download the 1098-E Tax Statement by logging into your account at aidvantage.studentaid.gov. To learn about reportable student loan interest eligibility, consult a tax advisor or contact the IRS directly.
